Fred Figglehorn is the protagonist of the Fred franchise. He is created and portrayed by Lucas Cruikshank.

In the movie trilogy, his full name is revealed to be Ferdinand Figglehorn. In the show, his name is Bagel Frederick Figglehorn.

He has appeared in every instance and episode of the franchise.

Physical Appearance[]

Fred has dark blond hair and brown eyes along with a thin frame.

In the classic web series and after the JKLProductions reuploads, he consistently wears a shirt with his name and a cartoon picture of his face on the front. In season one, it was light blue and hand-lettered, then was red and printed in season two. He wore a light blue version of the shirt again in seasons three and four. He wears khakis on special occasions.

In the films and the TV show, he appears as a teenager. He wears a yellow-striped shirt and yellow suspenders with jeans and white sneakers. His appearance in the New Fred arc is similar, but without the suspenders.

In the animated series, he is portrayed as a child. He wears a red shirt with a Black 'F' on the front and cargo shorts.

In Lucas' videos, Fred wears the light blue Fred shirt again. His hair is thicker and more auburn in color. On his Fred TikTok account, he is more blond again.

History[]

Fred Figglehorn was born on December 18, 2002 in a bar. He comes from a dysfunctional home-- his father had left his mother before he was born and is incarcerated on death row in the Eastern State Penitentiary. His mother later became a drug-addicted and alcoholic prostitute who is neglectful towards him, leaving him in the care of his grandmother sometimes and occasionally locked him in a cage.

Outside of his family, he also deals with his crush Judy and his bully Kevin-- and being picked on by both. However, this doesn't stop him from trying different things and gaining new experiences. With an energetic and naive attitude throughout the original web series, he starts off uploading sporadic videos of him celebrating various holidays.

Web Series[]

The first season follows Fred documenting his everyday life and attempting to perform a number of activities during the summer, until his mother attends rehab for alcohol abuse.

The second season delves more into Fred's infatuation with Judy and attending school. Fred also participates in his school play and decides to run against Kevin for class president, dreaming of someday becoming famous.

The third season still follows the daily adventures of Fred, as well as further exploring Fred's interest in singing and his feelings of being an outcast amongst his peers.

The fourth season shows Fred traveling around town, trying out different occupations and other experiences outside of his house. Fred is eventually confronted by a new person in his life, a psychopathic house intruder named Claudio Gregory, who manages to remain in his home due to paying Fred's mother's rent.

He eventually gets kidnapped by the Yuksung corporation after working with Nickelodeon, where the corporation wanted to push a 'new Fred' in order to sell cereal. Fred was later freed by creator Lucas Cruikshank himself. By the end of the New FRED arc, he is set free as a character when Lucas said that he no longer wanted to make videos with him. Fred then says he doesn't know when asked what he's going to do next and walks off into the distance, his future unknown.

Films[]

In the movie trilogy, Fred is a teenager and lives in a more relatively stable environment. The events he deals with are a little beyond everyday misadventures: the first movie has him embarking on a journey to find and sing with a recently relocated Judy, the second movie has him confronting a teacher who may or may not be a vampire, and the third movie has him being sent to Camp Iwannapeepee where he and his newfound camp friends must compete against a rival camp.

TV Show[]

In the show, Fred is confronted with more everyday events again such as school, interactions with bullies and crushes and friends, along with things more suited to teenage antics like driver tests and babysitting. His romantic feelings have shifted to other characters besides Judy, such as bad girl Holly and the brash, confrontational Nicolette. There is also some departure from the web series lore, such as when Kevin and Fred were revealed to have been childhood best friends.

Post-Fred[]

On Lucas's Channel, he had went through several lifestyle changes as a young adult. In "FRED IS BACK," he is revealed to have been working night shifts at a funeral home and living in an apartment with a depressed Judy who was working as a stripper. While he seems to maintain an upbeat and energetic demeanor, Judy had remained heartbroken for Kevin, which Fred is oblivious to.

In "Where Is FRED Now?," Fred lives in the house of a middle aged man named Jeffrey, who lets Fred live there for free, as long as he cleans the house once a week in nothing but his underwear. It is also revealed he had sold the channel for a Cheesecake Factory coupon. He still has some feelings for Judy at this point and has apparently become more psychotic in general. He says that his mom is watching over various children, none of which related to her, that she has tried to leave to be kidnapped multiple times. However, nobody will kidnap them (Fred says she tried the same thing on him, but it didn't work either).

In the (now private) video "FRED TRIES ONLINE DATING", it picks up from the previous video and has him still living with Jeffrey and being mentally disturbed.

Currently, the last spin-off of Fred is on the TikTok account "heyitsfred". It shows Fred in different situations like dancing, singing with a John Cena cutout, etc. The account is run by Lucas Cruikshank and was created for the video "I MADE A FRED TIK TOK ACCOUNT"

Personality[]

Fred is a hyperactive person. He often acts out on impulse, and has been seen to be hateful and vengeful. He is emotionally unstable, and can go from one emotion to another in seconds without much reason. Due to these problems, he has to take medicine and sees a therapist regularly. In the New Fred arc, he is more calm, but still is prone to acting out on his emotions.

He is usually upbeat and optimistic; for almost everything new he tries, he starts off with this attitude. However, Fred also thinks highly of himself and his abilities, often overestimating them. He is also rather petty, such as whenever he wants to get back at Kevin and resorts to poorly-thought-out schemes. Although he puts on a bravado at times, he occasionally self-reflects and is admittedly insecure about himself. He is self-conscious about his body and he is aware of his status as an outcast among his peers, often wishing that they would accept him one day.

He is a creative person and has expressed an interest in drawing where his skill level fluctuates; he typically draws crudely and on morbid subjects like violence (which has been said to have gotten him in trouble several times), but there are times where he displays a great level of skill, such as when he 'drew' his cartoon series in-universe and is able to ink a decent-looking detailed tattoo on a whim.

In the Fred: The Movie trilogy, he is even more calm, usually only becoming spastic or emotional when he is frightened or upset. He is more imaginative, daydreaming and/or hallucinating sometimes. He is quite determined and ambitious for whatever goal he has in mind, whether it was finding Judy, proving (and later disproving) his teacher is a vampire, or beating Kevin's camp in the competitions. Despite his immaturity, pettiness, and occasional arrogance, Fred has his moments of kindness and warm-heartedness, such as when he tried to fix his teacher's reputation in the second movie and encouraging his fellow campers to embrace themselves and their flaws in the third movie.

In Fred: The Show, he is slightly more emotional than before, but overall is easygoing. He is more inventive and imaginative than the film trilogy, going to extremes in the execution of his schemes-- whether it be building a (misanthropic) robot replica of himself to fool his mother, creating an effective love potion to woo a crush, or running a successful lemonade cafe out of his own home.

In the Fred videos uploaded on the Lucas YouTube channel, Fred initially appears to be more self-sufficient as a young adult and just as energetic as he when he was six years old. However, in later videos, he appears even worse off than he was in the original Fred videos. In addition to being emotional and impulsive, he appears to have gone insane. Although he is a full-fledged adult in these videos and having been to counselors in the past, his behavior seems slightly unhinged.

Trivia[]
